New Items, New Pictures!

June 22, 2010

Recently I have been working a lot on creating new designs for Rimi. Sometimes I feel like I have so many ideas and not enough time to complete them all! We recently listed a a lot of our new items products to our Etsy site.

I was so lucky to have my wonderful cousin, Leslie Clements, do a photo shoot for us! We spent the weekend at the beach at her family’s condo and she was so nice to take time to photograph our designs! I love how she captures the essence of each item in unique backdrops. Leslie’s photo genre is typically travel photography; you can view her pictures at: Leslie’s Gallery. Leslie is leading a group to Guatemala in the coming months to explore the island through photography. Amazing! We hope you enjoy some of our new pictures below!

My Wedding….Grand Cayman 2008

May 14, 2010

So blogging about the headbands that we did for Stacey’s wedding made me think about my wedding! I can’t believe it was over a year and a half ago…October 25, 2008. Kris and I got married in Grand Cayman, one of my favorite Carribean islands. I have always wanted a destination wedding and my amazing husband was willing to appease my wish! We hosted about 100 guests for the weekend at the Westin resort. I planned most of the wedding on my own, but was greatly assisted by the incredible team at the Westin Casuarina and Celebrations event planning. Celebrations handled all of our decor, day of coordination and many other details! I was so lucky to have a world class event planning company based out of Grand Cayman. Below are some of my favorite details from my destination wedding!

Our wedding welcome party was hosted by Kris’ family! The whole beach in front of our hotel was covered in lounges, cabanas, tiki torches, food areas, mojito stations, steel drums and a cigar roller! We really wanted our guests to feel welcome and enjoy the island.

Kris and I took our pre-wedding pictures at several different locations around Grand Cayman. I seriously debated whether I wanted to see Kris before walking down the aisle. I think there is something so traditional and powerful about seeing your future bride/groom for the first time when you are walking down the aisle. But in order to get great pictures togehter we decided to see each other before the wedding. Looking back on our wedding day, I am so glad we did! Not only did we get great pictures but we were able to have our moment seeing each other in private. It was perfect. We hired in incredible photographer, Rebecca Davidson, and her team, do all of the photography and videography. They truly captured the essence of our wedding…they are highly recommended!!

Our ceremony took place on the beach. I wanted to stick to a simple and elegant color scheme for the ceremony, so we used mostly all white. We added accents of raffia and blue (bridesmaid dresses). We were so blessed to have the most incredible weather for our wedding! I stressed about it all week, but everything worked out perfectly in the end!
Our two beautiful flower girls, Bailey and Emily wore these silk dresses from J Crew. Designs by Rimi made their custom blue sashes to match the bridesmaids dresses perfectly!
Saying our vows!!

Our First Wedding!

May 12, 2010

I love weddings! It’s no secret to anyone who knows me…I love romance, love stories, wedding planning, flowers, candles…the list goes on! Well when one of our wonderful friend’s Stacey asked me if I could design the headbands for her two beautiful flower girls I of course jumped at the chance!

The flower girl dresses were a gorgeous lace and champagne color so we selected a matching champagne dupioni silk for the headband. The satin ribbon wrapped headbands were adorned with two rosettes with freshwater pearl centers. I was sooo excited to see them walk down the aisle in their Rimis! They were so cute! The girls sent me the sweetest thank you note after the wedding to thank me for their headbands. It completely made my day!

The girls and I at the reception. So adorable!

The girls walking down the aisle…so beautiful!

It’s been a long time!

May 11, 2010

I can’t believe it has been so long since I blogged last…so much has happened since then! It is incredible how fast 7 months can go by. Over the past few months I have really focused in on the vision that I have for our business. The idea for Rimi started so organically that I didn’t have the time to create a true plan or find our niche. Well lots of research, soul searching and one business plan later, Rimi has turned into a diverse line of accessories for babies, women, weddings, and pets! It has been so much fun to see my dream come to fruition through this company and I can’t believe how close we are to getting it off the ground!

So the past few months haven’t been just about my business, a lot of other amazing things have happened too! Kris and I took several fun vacations, I made some incredible new friends in Florida, and we bought a house!! It was a foreclosure that needs some serious updating…I’m talking fluorescent green paint in the master bedroom and burnt orange shag carpet! I am busy working on renovation ideas and have started to compile my favorite pictures in an inspiration book. We just ordered our cabinets, vanities and we are completing the demolition this Saturday! I am so blessed that my husband and his family own a construction company so they can guide us through this process. I just can’t wait to see the final product!
Below are some pictures from the past few months 🙂 Enjoy! xoxo

Kris surprised me with a trip to Napa and Sonoma for our one year anniversary! It was an incredible trip that he planned himself! My favorite winery was called Jessup Cellars. They only sell their wine to club members and visitors to their winery, so it’s exclusive to Napa. The wine tasting was phenomenal and their wine called Table for Four was absolutely to die for!

The pictures below are of my two amazing girls…my Yorkie Maggie and my husky mix Harley. Harley turned six in November and Maggie turned three in February. They are growing up so fast! These pictures were taken on a walk in a park near our house. Notice the Gators sweater on Maggie…Go Gators!

The Greenwich – Gold Studded Headband

September 15, 2009
Some of our favorite trends for Fall 2009 are studs and grommets on accessories. We love the hard look mixed with girly elegance! The Greenwich was inspired by our many many Sunday afternoons spent shopping in Greenwich Village in New York City. We would always find amazing fashion that was vintage-esque while still being wearable for the modern girl! That is exactly what The Greenwich conveys to us. We love the studded look of this headband that is combined with preppy grosgrain brown ribbon. The Greenwich can be easily worn with a great pair of jeans and a t-shirt or dress!
We are now offering FREE shipping within the USA on this item on our Etsy store: Enjoy!!

Our First Art Show!!

September 7, 2009

So today was our first art show! We participated in the Davie Florida Labor Day festival. It went so well for our first show and we met some wonderful sellers and customers! The weather was perfect, thank goodness! I was so lucky to have my amazing husband Kris and great friend Myers to help today! Happy Labor Day! 🙂

Below is a picture of me (wearing our headband of course!) in front of our booth. We were selling both adorable clips and headbands!

Below is a close up of one of our headband filled vases! I love all of the beautiful colors!

Tahitian Princess

August 24, 2009

I recently went to Bora Bora/Tahiti on my honeymoon. It was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. It is truly like paradise! The picture below is the view from the hotel…amazing.

My trip to Tahiti was the inspiration for the Tahitian Princess headband! The beautiful coral/orange flowers remind me of the vibrant and beautiful colors in Tahiti. These flowers were placed on a satin band with an easy fit clasp.

This headband is so comfortable and easy to wear. The elastic bands on each side of the ribbon are attached to a large fabric covered hook and eye that connect at the nape of your neck. No Tahitian princess should have to mess up your hair when trying to put on a wrap headband! 🙂
